Class
Objectives:
The
Gentle Hatha Yoga class is meant for beginners to Yoga. The objective of
the class is to:

Learn
basic Hatha Yoga postures.

Learn
Yogic breathing
-
Learn
Yogic relaxation technique
The
overall goal is to prepare the participant to achieve or regain strength,
gain flexibility and to relax.
Focus:
In
all postures, alignment, awareness, relaxation and yogic breathing is
emphasized.
Class
makeup:
Standing
postures make up majority of the class to build the strength in the legs.
The participants learn forward bending, mild back bending, simple
twists and supine postures and the half Sun salutation.
Standing
postures: Mountain, Side bend, Triangle, Hero I, Hero II, Wide-legged
forward bend, Mild Back Bend
Seated
postures: Easy posture, Seated forward bend, Bound-angle forward bend,
Child’s posture, Leg cradle, Simple twist
Back:
Mild back bend with Namaste, Downward Dog, Half Cobra, Half Camel, Cow-Cat
stretch, Cow-Cat stretch variation using legs, Leg-into-Chest
Twists:
Simple Seated twist, Supine twist
All-body:
Half-sun salutation
Breathing
technique: Yogic breathing, Alternate Nostril breathing
Each
class is followed by deep relaxation and breathing session.
