Vikasa means evolution. Ash Aragam, Certified
Yoga Teacher, has over 20 years of practice and has been teaching Yoga in
and around Lansdale, PA. Classes focus on building strength, flexibility
and relaxation. Ash promotes the benefits of Yoga through inexpensive
classes and teaching free at non-profit organizations.
How are
classes different at Vikasa Yoga?
The classes are
gentle and suit everyone, especially beginners. The classes are not the
typical classes you find at a fitness center. Ash believes Yoga is a very
personal experience. You will practice to suit your body and needs. The emphasis
in each of the class is to enjoy what you are doing, breathing well and
relaxation. More importantly, it is with connecting with your Self. Thus,
if you are looking for a physically challenging class or if you view Yoga
as something to perfect the body, the classes may not suit you.
Ash teaches FREE to non-profit organizations and other service oriented
programs. Please call 267 825 1983 to schedule you free group classes.
Yoga in a nutshell
Yoga means Union - union
of the Self with the Supreme. The Supreme or the paramatma is
considered the all-encompassing, all-knowing perfect being. The being or the
jivatma, by practicing Yoga, attains total self-realization and thus
is in a state identical to the state of the Supreme, from whom he or she
originated.
The
practice of Ashtanga (eight limbed) or Raja Yoga lays out the path to this
Self-realization through the prescribed eight steps. The steps include yamas
or restraints, niyamas or rules, asana or posture, pranayama
or control of breath, pratyahara or withdrawal of senses, dharana
or concentration, dhyana or meditation and Samadhi or
Self-realization.
Hatha
Yoga is the practice of asana and pranayama. Through Hatha
Yoga, the adept prepares the body where he or she can move to the next stage
- Self-realization or gaining complete control of the mind.

"When you are
inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your
thoughts break their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations, your
consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new,
great, and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become
alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you
ever dreamed yourself to be." -
