The asanas are a mix of standing, on-the-mat, on-the-back, on-the-tummy categories. If you are new to Yoga, it is best to attend beginner classes before practicing on your own. The classes typically start with breathing and Pranayama techniques. Hence you will find long pauses through the first 10-15 minutes. The asana part of the session contain a good amount of instruction. The classes typically finish the asana session with Shavasan or the Corpse posture. Again during the end, there will be periods of silence. The classes end with an utterance of the Sanskrit word 'Namaste' - a salutation to each other in the class.
